Sales Daddy Recorder
Records your business calls and hands them to Sales Daddy automatically — every call lands on the right lead with a transcript and an AI summary. Free with your Sales Daddy account.
Blocked by Play Protect? That's expected — here's how to get past it
Google shows this warning for every app installed outside the Play Store. It is not a virus alert and it does not mean anything is wrong with the app — Google simply has not scanned it, because call recording is not allowed on the Play Store at all.
If it says “Unsafe app blocked”
- Tap More details (small text — easy to miss).
- Tap Install anyway.
If there is no “Install anyway” option
- Open the Play Store → tap your profile picture → Play Protect.
- Tap the settings gear → turn off Scan apps with Play Protect.
- Install Sales Daddy Recorder.
- Turn the scanning back on afterwards — you only need it off for the install itself, and leaving it off weakens your phone.
Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO
MIUI adds its own scan on top. If the install still fails, go to Settings → Privacy protection → Special permissions → Install unknown apps, allow your browser, and turn off MIUI optimisation under Developer options if it keeps refusing.
Still says “App not installed”? Delete any older Sales Daddy Recorder file from your Downloads first — installing an older copy over a newer one fails with that same message.
Before you install — please read
- You may not need this app. Most Xiaomi, Redmi, Samsung, Oppo and vivo phones already record calls. If yours does, just point Sales Daddy at your phone's own recording folder — that works better than any add-on.
- Only normal phone calls can be recorded. WhatsApp, Instagram and other internet calls cannot be recorded by any Android app. Add a voice note on the lead instead — it gets transcribed too.
- What it captures depends on your phone model. Some phones record both voices, some record only yours — Android decides, not the app. If only your voice comes through, open Settings → Call audio source and try a different one; if that does not help, turn on Record on speaker, which puts the call on speakerphone so the mic hears the other person too. The app runs a real test and tells you what your phone captured — no guessing.
- It is not on the Play Store. Google does not allow call recording through the Play Store, so you install the APK from here. Your phone will warn you once during install.
Setup — about 3 minutes
1Download and install
Tap the Download button. Android will ask permission to install apps from your browser — allow it once. Play Protect may show a warning because the app is not from the Play Store; tap “More details”, then “Install anyway”.
2Allow microphone, phone and storage
Open the app and tap through the setup checklist. It asks for the microphone, phone/call log, and access to the recordings folder — each one is a single Android prompt.
3Turn on the Accessibility service
Settings → Accessibility → Sales Daddy Recorder → On → Allow. On Android 13 and newer the switch may be greyed out at first: go to App info → ⋮ (top right) → “Allow restricted settings”, then come back. Android needs this to let any app record a call.
4Allow background running
Set the battery to Unrestricted. On Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO, vivo, Oppo and Realme also turn on Autostart — without it your phone stops the recorder and calls are missed. The app links you straight to the right screen.
5Run the test recording
Tap “Run test recording”. It records 10 seconds and tells you exactly what your phone captured — so you know it works before you rely on it.
6Point Sales Daddy at the folder
In the Sales Daddy app: Settings → Calling & recording → recording folder → pick “SalesDaddy / Recordings”. Recordings then appear on the lead with a transcript and AI summary.
Privacy
Recordings are saved on your own phone and handed to your Sales Daddy workspace — they are never shared outside it, never sold and never used for advertising. Audio is kept 90 days on the server; the transcript and summary stay on the lead. You are responsible for telling the other person that the call is being recorded where the law requires it. See our privacy policy.
What's new in v1.0.22
- Fix: only part of a call recorded (e.g. 4 seconds of a 35-second call), or nothing at all. When the app couldn't hear audio it switched microphone and restarted the recording, deleting what it had. Quiet calls kept looking silent, so the recording restarted every few seconds and only the last fragment survived — and if a restart landed near the end of the call, nothing did. Now every attempt keeps its own file, the longest one is published, and the app stops switching once the call is under way (or the moment it hears anything at all — the threshold for "that's audio" is far more sensitive).
